Re: Import Word Summary DOORS comes with a Word Plugin that allows you to transfer the contents of a word document to DOORS. We used this Word plugin in combination with a small VBA macro that extracts the chapter structure of a document to a new document. After creating the new document we imported it using the plugin.Of course you can also just copy paste the table of contents to a new document. Is this what you mean? Regards, Mathias |

An object for each document and below my document object i need to import automatically the chapter structure. If i understood right, i need to apply the VBA macro for each word documents (i don't know if i can do it) and for each object with my dxl script i need
I hoped there were a simple solution

Re: Import Word Summary Well it depends. The more automated it should be the less likely you are going to get a predefined solution. What you described is one possibility. Another possibility would be to use COM automation to control word to open up the documents and extract the chapters using DXL. Another possibility would be to go from Word do all the chapter magic there using VBA, and create dynamically a DXL script to invoke to update the information and run it over COM or Batch (Or use another DOORS interface). I guess it is a question of personal comfort.
I think it would make sense to keep the word part in word and the DXL part in DXL so I would create a DXL library that has a function for updating / creating those structure objects in DOORS, test it and then call it over COM from a Word Macro or from a VB-Script file (or if you need an unsupervised update over batch).
